In my opinion, McDonald’s has the best straws of any fast food restaurant (maybe of any restaurant). I often go there just to get a delicious fountain soda and always find myself amazed at the awesomeness of their straws. When I discovered that my colleague at Lab42 loves Taco Bell’s hot sauce packets just as much as I love McDonald’s drinks, I realized that maybe we don’t just go to fast food restaurants for their main food items. What else do we love about fast food restaurants?
Lab42 surveyed 500 American males between the ages of 18 and 35 (typically assumed to be the target demographic of many major chains) to see if we were surprised by their favorite fast food restaurants, restaurant-going behaviors, or menu choices. In order to take the survey, these American males had to have eaten at one of six popular national fast food chains in the past three months.
We discovered some interesting trends and fun facts about the dudes around us. Check out this infographic to find out how many packets of Taco Bell’s hot sauce are kept at home days after purchase and the latest on the ongoing debate over best French Fries:

About the Survey
This survey was conducted online via social networks from May 18 to May 25, 2011 among 500 males between the ages of 18 and 35 that have eaten at a fast food restaurant in the past 3 months. This online survey is not based on a probability sample and therefore no estimate of theoretical sampling error can be calculated. For complete survey methodology, please contact us at info@lab42.com.

I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the numbers in “How often self-described body types at a fast-food meal in the past 3 months.” Three months is a long time, and this graph says that more than half of skinny and fit guys–as well as 48% of heavy guys–eat a fast food meal less than once per month. That seems extremely low. Even among the self-described overweight men, almost 80% claimed to eat fast food meals twice a month or less. That’s less than one meal every other week!
Maybe if the chart was how often guys eat a fast-food meal every WEEK, and the numbers all stayed the same, I’d find it much more believable. The info as shown makes it appear that we American men are much more healthy and disciplined in our diets than conventional wisdom would have us believe.
I don’t eat too much fast food. I take care of my health trough food and i prefer non-salt food also.
